Entering his 5th fight in the UFC, Neil Magny was looking to get his first back-to-back victories in the promotion. He had the chance to do so against the always-tough Tim Means. Magny is coming off an impressive decision win at UFC 169 against Gaasan Umalatov, a Russian prospect who carried a 14-2 record before their bout. In the fight, Magny utilized his range, out-striking Umalatov in every round of the fight. Magny ended the fight with a total of 105 strikes, while his opponent only landed 38.
When he fights Means, Magny will once again have a reach advantage. His reach is 81”while the reach of Means is 75”. Tim Means will be returning to the UFC after he was pushed out of the promotion following a 2-2 sing in the highly skilled Lightweight division. Following his departure from the UFC, Means moved up a weight class to Welterweight and earned two 1st-round knockouts in Legacy FC. Magny is an underdog for the fight with Vegas odds pinning him as +220. This is very familiar grounds for him as it’s the 3rd time in his last 4 fights that he’s been an underdog. A win over Means will be crucial in gaining traction in the stacked UFC Welterweight division.
Magny did just that during this bout which was featured on the main card of the Fox Sports 1 broadcast. Displaying all around skill wherever the fight went, he took the victory via a unanimous decision. We are excited to see what is next for the US Army vet as his development as an MMA fighter is looking better and better!
